Heather's Visit

What a treat we had this week ~ our niece Heather came to town for a conference and stayed with us for a few days! We loved getting caught up with her. She is so fun to be around!

Ice Dams and Morocco

Did I get your attention? The DC metro area, after receiving 54 inches of snow recently, is experiencing something called ice dams. The snow is melting VERRRRYYY slowly ~ the snow melts on the roofs, goes into the gutters and then refreezes and makes an ice dam right there in the gutter. The melting gets backed up behind the dam.....having nowhere to go and seeps into the house wherever it can. People are having walls and carpets soaked. Our neighbor had a roofing company come out yesterday to take all the snow off her roof! What a show that was!!!! We are doing ok, but many are having this problem. Our Hannah is in Morocco ~ yep....and having so much fun. She and a friend went to visit a mutual friend who is over there. It is a hoot to be texting her....from DC to Morocco. I text. In a minute she responds....WHAT???!!!! Amazing. More details to come on that once she gets home. Oh, one more thing.....yes, I know my new blog template has 2009 on it. I've tried to change it to 2010 but to no avail. I love the template.....so just don't mind the date ok!!!! :)

Fun Weekend ~ Out and About

We had a GREAT weekend ~ loved getting out and about and seeing people who are special to us. We went to Phill and Christy's to wish Christy a happy birthday, went to a wedding of a special couple from our church, went to Courtney and Pat's to let Joshua open his b'day gifts, and Valentine's Day we got to church and Alden, Steve and I went to see Avatar!!!!!

Wonderful weekend with people we love.

Road plowed BUT still walls of snow.....they will probably stay til Spring!!!!! We have a light snow falling right now.....but only an inch or two expected. :) We hope to go back to school tomorrow....with probably a 2 hour delay. Alden, Brittany and Ayden

Plow Came ~ Few More Good Pics

The BIG plow (rubber tire front loader Alden says!) came last night at midnight!!!!! Yahoo! The calvary arrived. He did an AWESOME job and we so appreciate the hard work these people have done all around our area.

We had a huge icicle RIGHT above our front door ~ Alden enjoyed getting it down ~ with a basketball no less. :)

Cassie ~ our 20 year old cat finally made it out for a peek at the snow yesterday. She didn't stay long!

One of the projects I did while snowed in ~ writing all my recipes on "pretty recipe cards".

As I wrote out these recipes, I thought through where the recipes came from. Really a fun thing to do.

Two of our family favorites came from a neighbor in Germany ~ and from this cookbook. I had totally forgotten!!!!!

Much fun was had ~ much work was done ~ resting happened. Thankful for this week off from "normal life". Now.....back to life we go. Thankful we are all safe and sound.

And......can't wait for the Olympics! Have you seen the Google design today?! Really nice!
